This course takes a look at business structures around the world with an emphasis in both similarities and differences based on culture, tradition, politics, social responsibility, and economics. It is designed to give the student an overview of both the advantages and the possible pitfalls of doing business on foreign soil from their own business or industry's base of operations and how best to generate future trends as well as plan for possible outcomes. This is a strategic level course.
This class is for students who have dealings in foreign countries, hold positions in companies that have or may open foreign subsidiaries, or want to expand their strategic mindset in order to expand operations into the global marketplace or are already working abroad and wish to expand their negotiating skill set.
Prospective students should have some prior business experience or have lived in another country besides their own for at least six months. This class will use readings and other material found primarily on the Globalization 101 website and all other materials will be provided by the instructor or obtained from the Internet.
